Shahram Nazeri and Shams Tanbur Ensemble - Voice Of Endearment

Overview:

Spiritual Kurdish Tanbur Music of Iran
Shahram Nazeri has devoted his life to the literature and music of Sufism. He began participating in Sufi gatherings at the age of eight, which inspired him to learn to sing the poetic words of the great Persian mystics Rumi and Attar. One of the most popular singers in Iran and a master of the Persian classical, Sufi and Kurdish repertoires, Nazeri has won great critical acclaim for his distinctive style and virtuosity, and has made innumerable highly praised recordings.

"Voice of Endearment" by Shahram Nazeri and Kaykhosro Pournazeri is one of the landmark recordings made during the early years following the 1979 revolution in Iran. It is the first and the most successful recording which combines traditional urban Persian music with the spiritual Kurdish Tanbur music of Iran.
